Farm forward sourcing with restorative impacts

Climate Beneficial™ is a holistic verification system that enables farm-traceable connectivity—creating transparent, regenerative impacts to ecosystems and U.S. farming communities.

Climate Beneficial™ was established in 2020 by Fibershed, a non-profit organization that develops regional fiber systems that build ecosystem and community health from soil to skin.

From California to the Southeast, our network of farmers are implementing regenerative practices on U.S. croplands. Originally marketed as C4 cotton (California Cotton Climate Coalition) we offer long staple cotton like Pima and Acala as well as shorter staple Upland cotton varieties.

In California, more than 200,000 acres of cotton are grown in the San Joaquin Valley—enough to create at least 7 pairs of jeans each year for every person in the state. Within cotton systems, we see an opportunity to rebuild soil carbon and water-holding capacity, renew biodiverse wildlife habitats, reduce or eliminate the use of synthetic fertilizers and herbicides, and more.

Climate Beneficial™ Verified Cotton

From California to the Northern Great Plains, our network of ranchers are implementing regenerative practices on U.S. rangelands. American fine white wool breeds like Rambouillet provide similar quality specifications popularized by Merino wool, with additional benefits in a variety of applications.

Grazing fiber-producing animals in cropland systems can reduce and eliminate the cost and need for herbicides and synthetic fertilization, provide a less expensive option than mowing all while building soil organic matter and effectively cycling nutrients within our farming ecosystems. Integrating grazing animals into our rangeland and forested systems reduces accumulated fire fuel load.

Invest in the journey

From baseline to fully verified, sourcing Climate Beneficial™ cotton and wool is an investment in U.S. farmers and the land, soil, and waterways we share.
